What are the responsibilities and job description for the Helpdesk Technician position at State University Construction Fund?
The State University Construction Fund (the "Fund") is currently seeking a Helpdesk Technician to join our Information Services team at our office in Albany, NY.
The Helpdesk Technician provides hardware and user software support to SUCF staff. The incumbent addresses day to day user issues and assists with new hardware / software deployment.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Configure laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals to SUCF regulations
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications and updates.
- Execute workstation move / relocations.
- Ready hardware for re-assignment or surplus activity.
- Perform routine hardware maintenance and coordinate vendor repair.
- Provide support to staff and vendors requiring ad hoc hardware / software setup.
- Respond to user support calls.
- Utilize Helpdesk software to track support issues
- Determine course of action for user support problem resolution.
- Escalate complex issues to higher-level support when necessary
- Document solutions and procedures in the Knowledge Base for future reference.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding of employees, including hardware setup and account provisioning.
- Assist users with Microsoft 365 functionality questions.
- Run diagnostic software to identify problems.
- Maintain hardware /software inventory
- Assist users with VPN, Wi-Fi, and remote access issues.
- Support meeting setups for in-person and virtual meetings.
- Communicate effectively with end-users to understand issues and provide clear solutions
- Educate/Train users on best practices for security and productivity tools
- Performs other duties as directed.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree, preferably in information technology or business.
- Three years of technical and PC administration experience in a Windows environment with a user base of twenty or more.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 desired.
- Three years additional related experience can be substituted for associate's degree.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This position does not require a NYS Civil Service examination.
Additional Information:
Salary range: $56,506 - $68,630 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
