The State Preservation Board (SPB) was established for the purpose of preserving, maintaining, and restoring the State Capitol and the 1857 General Land Office, which houses the Capitol Visitors Center. Since that time, Agency operations have expanded to include care of the Governor's Mansion, operating the Bullock Texas State History Museum, Texas State Cemetery, Capitol Mall and three Capitol Complex legislative office buildings. If you're a skilled property manager with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities, and youre ready to make a difference in historic preservation, we want to hear from you.
Position
Summary
The Property Manager reports directly to the Executive Deputy Director. This position involves complex administrative, technical, and supervisory responsibilities requiring specialized knowledge in managing and coordinating property operations maintenance, and administrative functions across various historically and operationally significant sites. These include the State Capitol, Capitol Extension, Capitol Visitors Center, Capitol Grounds, Texas Governors Mansion, Texas State Cemetery, Bullock Texas State History Museum, Capitol Mall, Legislative State Buildings, and other properties maintained by the State Preservation Board.
Working under general supervision, the Property Manager is expected to exercise sound, ethical, and independent judgment. Key responsibilities including soliciting bids for maintenance contractors and construction projects; and participating in the selection of contractors.
