The Division of Adult Institution, Bureau of Health Services is recruiting to fill a Psychologist Supervisor Chapter 980 position. This position is based out of the Chapter 980 Forensic Evaluation Unit (Milwaukee, WI).

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the overall management of the Chapter 980 Clinical Evaluation Unit. It serves as the lead member of a team of licensed clinical Psychologists responsible for conducting Special Purpose Evaluations (SPEs) and providing expert testimony as a part of the Department of Correction's (DOC) Chapter 980, the Sexually Violent Person law, case review and evaluation process.

Responsibilities include supervising professional staff and interns, developing and implementing unit policies, protocol and procedures, consulting with the 980 Specialist, and conducting and arranging staff training. In addition, this position will be responsible for conducting clinical interviews and evaluations, writing reports, and providing expert testimony under Chapter 980 proceedings.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 50-20 with an annual salary of $104540 to $156769.

Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A two-year Career Executive trial period will be required.

Additional Pay

Employees in possession of a Doctorate of Psychology may be eligible for additional supplemental pay up to $8.00 per hour.

Job Details

Anticipated schedule will be Monday – Friday 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM. Some flexibility in start time may be available. This position is FLSA Exempt.

This position is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis, but most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC work visa sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Conducting clinical interviews and evaluations for sex offenders using evidence-based risk assessment
  • Providing clinical supervision to staff regarding sex offender risk assessment (training, consultation, assigning/directing work, etc.)
  • Performing court-ordered risk assessment (record review, psychological evaluations and diagnostic services) and providing expert testimony.

In addition to the above, well qualified applicant will have experience:

  • Conducting sexually violent person (SVP) evaluations in Wisconsin or another state.
  • Developing and implementing policies, protocol and procedures related to psychology evaluations

Special Requirements

  • Applicants must possess current Wisconsin licensure as a Psychologist or be licensed in another state and be eligible to obtain Wisconsin licensure by time of appointment. Employees must maintain licensure during employment.
  • Employees must obtain and maintain certification in BLS by the American Heart Association and training in the use of the AED and have the ability to perform BLS and/or first aid to prevent loss of life and relieve suffering until appropriate care arrives.
