Nature of Work
- Disclaimer-this position will be considered classified-exempt and “at will.” The Transportation Building and Grounds Maintenance Worker 1 will report to the District Maintenance Office in Mercer County. This position performs a variety of skilled and semi skilled work under limited direction in the building trades in connection with the maintenance and repair of Highways’ facilities, buildings and grounds. Work assignments usually require skill in and knowledge of maintenance and repair methods and practices in several building maintenance trades. May also required, with proper training to work in asbestos or other environmental issues. Performs related work as required.

No formal education required.
Experience
Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in building maintenance, building construction, the installation and maintenance of building electrical or heating systems, or related highway experience.
Substitution: Successful completion of vocational school training may substitute for the required experience through an established formula.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT: Travel may be required; therefore, a valid driver’s license is required.

Annual Increment Pay The annual increment is $60 for each full year of qualifying service, and is paid in July of each year. This is available to employees with 3 or more years of service.

Vacation 15 to 24 days per year depending on length of service.
Paid Sick Leave We offer an outstanding paid sick leave benefit. Employees earn 1.5 days each month or 18 days per year. There is no limit to the amount of sick leave an employee can accumulate.
