Our agency is looking to fill a full-time, permanent Office Assistant Lead (OAL) vacancy within the Community Corrections Division. This position works for the Bellingham Field Office located at 1400 N. Forest Street, Bellingham, WA 98225. 

Under general supervision by the Administrative Assistant 3 (AA3), this position provides a high level of clerical and secretarial support to the AA3, Community Corrections Supervisor (CCS), and Community Corrections Officers (CCOs).

Incomplete application packages or ‘see resume’ in lieu of the requested information may disqualify you from the process.As the designated lead, you will instruct and review the work of the Office Assistant 3 (OA3) while also providing direct complex secretarial services and assistance to the Community Corrections Supervisor (CCS) and Community Corrections Officers (CCOs). Some of your duties may include:
  • Using specialized knowledge, technical skill, and independent judgement to review various court orders and enter and retrieve data from various systems such as Offender Management Network Information (OMNI) or OnBase.
  • File management, including file setup and closing and archiving files.
  • Serve as the receptionist and ensure adequate coverage to greet and confer with supervised individuals (S/Is) and the public by answering questions and/or directing them to the supervising CCO.
  • Answer a multi-line telephone system.
  • Back-up support duties and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of clerical experience that required keyboarding or typing.
  • And must possess and maintain a vehicle operator’s license valid in the state of Washington.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Must respect and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to assist individuals with various criminal backgrounds.
  • Ability to navigate internal databases.
  • Ability to proofread written material, identify and correct errors in sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly to staff, supervise individuals, public and stakeholders.
  • Basic level of proficiency and knowledge in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Prior experience working in an office setting.
  • Experience working with databases.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
