As an Application Development Supervisor, you will lead a team responsible for designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications that power critical Department of Licensing services. Using your expertise in application development, software architecture, databases, web services, and systems integration, you will provide both technical and people leadership to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions. Working closely with business partners, technical teams, and agency leadership, you will guide complex projects, resolve technical challenges, establish development standards, and ensure your team delivers high-quality applications that support the agency's mission.Some of what you will do:
- Supervise, coach, and develop a team of IT application developers, managing workloads, performance, hiring, and professional growth.
- Lead the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise applications and technology solutions.
- Develop application architecture, technical standards, and best practices that promote secure, reliable, and maintainable systems.
- Partner with business units, technical teams, and stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that support agency priorities.
- Oversee database design, data integration, and data management activities to ensure accurate, secure, and accessible information.
- Guide complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of application and system issues while reviewing technical work completed by the team.
- Establish and oversee testing, quality assurance, and deployment processes to ensure successful implementations and minimize production issues.
- Research emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve applications, reduce technical debt, and strengthen the agency's technology environment.
- Nine (9) years of progressive professional experience in one or more of the following IT disciplines: consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, architecting and/or maintaining computer software applications.
- Two (2) or more years of experience as an IT Supervisor or team lead.
- Five (5) years of professional experience in the software development field, including:
- Using MS-Visual Studio Development tools to maintain and develop agency or corporate level systems.
- Designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining C#, VB.Net, .NET Frameworks, using tools such as Team Foundation Server (TFS) or other source control tools.
- Using HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, and supporting libraries such as jQuery, etc., or like programming technologies, and the ability to provide solutions using these technologies.
- Developing and testing MS-SQL 2008/2012 Transact SQL statements.
- Managing/configuring Internet Information Services (IIS).
- Experience working with relational databases.
- Interpreting user requirements and software design documentation to be used for software development.
- The ability to:

What may set you apart:
- Three (3) additional years of experience as a Software Developer utilizing the following tools and technologies:
- XML
- JavaScript
- VB.NET
- C#
- SQL Reporting Services, Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS), Web Services, SQL, Visual Studio (VS)
Additional Conditions of employment:
- This position will operate onsite at our Olympia, WA location infrequently.
