Some of what you'll do:
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of a high-pressure steam plant with two steam-generating boilers
- Monitor, inspect, and repair gauges, valves, pumps, boilers, electronic controls, and safety equipment to maintain continuous operation of the steam-boiler system
- Operate and maintain auxiliary systems, including feed-water and condensate pumps, deaerators, air compressors, fuel systems, and emergency generators
- Troubleshoot and perform both minor and major repairs on boiler and HVAC systems
- Interpret schematics, drawings, and operating manuals to support proper operation and equipment upgrades
- Operate and adjust Cleaver-Brooks Boiler Management (HAWK) systems as needed
- Conduct equipment testing, water treatment, and blow-down procedures to ensure safe and compliant operations
Desired skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Ability to safely work from ladders or elevated platforms, including in high ambient temperature environments
- Proficiency in using personal computers and Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact respectfully and effectively with individuals who have limited sensory and physical abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to treating all individuals with dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity
- Ability to collaborate professionally with coworkers from diverse backgrounds
- Flexibility and responsiveness to address facility maintenance needs, including after-hours and emergent situations
Who should apply?
We are seeking professionals who meet one of the following qualifications:
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and/or repair of stationary or marine high-pressure boilers and heating systems
- Completion of an advanced Stationary Engineer course from an accredited vocational/technical school or community college, and two years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and/or repair of stationary or marine high-pressure boilers and heating systems
- One year of State service as a Stationary Engineer 1
