DSHS DVR Ticket to Work (TTW) Program Consultant

DSHS's Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) is hiring for a Ticket to Work (TTW) Program Consultant (Social and Health Program Consultant 2) in Tumwater, WA. The actual assigned duty station can be discussed upon job offer.

As the Ticket to Work Program Consultant, you will report to the Ticket to Work and Benefits Planning Program Manager. The Ticket to Work Program Consultant contributes to the development, monitoring, evaluation, or coordination of social, financial, or health services programs, projects, or program policies and procedures.

A flexible hybrid work schedule is available after the initial onboarding period is complete.

King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.  
 
Some of what you'll do:

  • Provide quarterly contact to all Vocational Rehabilitation Employment Network assignments once the DVR case is closed.
  • Provide continuing consultation to participants to help them understand how wages impact benefits and provide ongoing recommendations to maximize earned income to reduce poverty.
  • Manage and keep track of when participants need to request and utilize certain work incentives to maximize earnings.
  • Provides financial literacy to DVR participants.
  • Analyze and interpret the Benefits Planning Query for accuracy and utilize information received to give well rounded recommendations and consultation to participants.
  • Provide assistance to participants applying to various benefit programs.
  • Attend and participate in departmental functions and meetings.


Professionals with the following should apply:

 A Master's degree or higher in social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field, and two years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health or chemical dependency treatment services programs.

Or,

A Bachelor's degree in social work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field; and three years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs.

Or,

One year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 1.

Notes: A degree in Social Work must be from an educational program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. For selected positions in an alcohol and substance abuse program, status as a chemical dependency professional is required. For selected positions experience as a WorkFirst Program Specialist or Financial Service Specialist 4 may substitute year for year for the required education.

Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities we are looking for:


  • The ability to accurately understand, interpret, and explain the rules of Social Security and other state and federal social, financial, and health programs clearly and understandably.
  • Able to analyze, synthesize, and report detailed technical information in formats that are used by others with non-technical knowledge.
  • Establish effective working relationships.
  • The ability to provide information and guidance to Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and Community Rehabilitation Providers who have technical questions about Social Security and other state and federal social, financial, and health programs that impact their participants.
  • Communicate effectively in written formats and public presentations; meet formally and informally with a variety of community-based organizations and special interest groups.
  • The ability to learn and utilize specialized software required for Ticket to Work and DVR.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Well organized, ensuring participant contact is maintained and on schedule.
