BGS Vehicle & Equipment Technician

State of Vermont
Montpelier, VT Full Time
POSTED ON 5/9/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/6/2026
Overview

The BGS Fleet Management Program is seeking a Fleet Vehicle & Equipment Technician to join a small, collaborative team responsible for the safety, reliability, and upkeep of Vermont's state fleet of approximately 680 vehicles, primarily light- and medium-duty passenger vehicles and trucks.

This is a hands-on role that blends fieldwork, customer support, and administrative coordination. While the position involves working directly with vehicles, most mechanical repairs and maintenance are performed by external vendors. The focus of this role is on coordinating service, supporting customers, and keeping fleet operations running smoothly.

This position includes a variety of physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, lifting, using hand tools, jump-starting vehicles, and working outdoors in all seasons.

If you take pride in your work, enjoy problem-solving, and like being part of a team that keeps things running, we encourage you to apply!

This position, BGS Vehicle & Equipment Technician (Job Requisition #54965), is open to all State employees and external applicants.
