Overview

ESD is looking for a dynamic leader with strong communication skills and a background in policy related to food insecurity. This position will oversee the Food and Nutrition Team and is responsible for the implementation and operation of Vermont's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. This position requires independent and teamwork and the confidence to initiate and implement federal policy changes in a frequently changing landscape with a focus on accuracy and integrity.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Environmental Factors

Duties are generally performed in a standard office setting but some travel may be required. There may be stress from deadlines and strong differences of opinion may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate degree in Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Health Care related fields AND two (2) years or more as a manager or administrator in a health/human services program or organization, including one (1) year of SNAP program work experience.

OR

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Health Care related fields AND three (3) or more years as a manager or administrator in a health/human services program or organization, including one (1) year of SNAP program work experience.

OR

Five (5) years or more as a manager or administrator in a health/human services program or organization, including one (1) year of SNAP program work experience.
