BGS Parking Enforcement Officer - Temporary

Overview

The primary role of the BGS Parking Enforcement Officer is to enforce parking regulations throughout the Capitol Complex. This includes conducting foot/vehicle patrols, issuing verbal and written warnings, parking tickets, and verifying parking permits.

The part-time Parking Enforcement Officer will also conduct daily parking lot counts to track parking trends and identify potential issues. Parking enforcement activity, including tickets issued and daily parking lot counts, will be entered into the appropriate database each day to maintain accurate records and support ongoing parking management.

Who May Apply

This position, BGS Parking Enforcement Officer - Temporary (Job Requisition #55689), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors

The Parking Enforcement Officer works both indoors and outdoors and is regularly exposed to changing weather conditions, including cold, heat, rain, snow, and ice. The position requires frequent walking and standing, awareness of vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and working on uneven or slippery surfaces. The employee may encounter members of the public/SOV employees who are upset or confrontational regarding parking enforcement activities. The position also requires occasional lifting and moving of traffic barricades and other parking-related equipment, as well as seasonal snow shoveling.

No specific education or experience.

High school diploma or equivalent.
