The Utah Division of Water Resources is seeking a hardworking, creative, and positive Water Conservation Coordinator to add to our team. As a Water Conservation Coordinator, you will run the division's Transparent Water Billing Grant Program, oversee water conservation plans, review rebate applications, and assist with public outreach activities and events.

Day-to-day responsibilities of this position:

• Run the division's Transparent Water Billing Grant Program: Set application windows, review applications, monitor contracts, meet regularly with applicants, and review final reports for program compliance.
• Oversee Water Conservation Plans: Water providers with 500 connections and water districts are required to submit a Water Conservation Plan every 5 years. This position will track plans, notify systems of due dates, review submitted plans, and ensure compliance with the Water Conservation Plan Act.
• Rebates: Work with a team to review rebate applications and ensure compliance with program rules.
• Public Outreach: Represent the division at community events, present about water conservation at various events and classes, and teach Localscapes classes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Effective ability to convey information concisely through writing and verbally.
• General knowledge of water in Utah.
• Professional work experience in water conservation.
• Professional experience with running programs and managing projects with deadlines.

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:

• Has a B.S. or higher in horticulture, environmental science, water conservation, natural resources or a related major.
• Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and effectively, listen to and understand information and ideas as presented verbally.
• Experience coordinating the activities or tasks of people, groups, and/or organizations.
• Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Ability to use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions.
• Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft and google Office products, including Word, Google Docs, Excel, Google Sheets and database technology.

Working Conditions:

• May need to be out of town 1 to 3 nights a few times a year.
• Will perform outreach events which include setting up a booth and sitting indoors or outdoors
• Outreach event conditions will be weather dependent, including cold, heat, and other outdoor conditions
• Risks found in the typical office setting are adequately lit, heated, and ventilated, including safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, and observing fire regulations
• Typically, the employee may sit to perform the work. There may also be walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and driving an automobile.
• Monday-Friday, standard hours. Some weekends and travel.
