This is a supervisory level job. Incumbent supervises preparation and serving of food and assists in the overall management of a food program for a state institution. This includes planning and preparing daily menus for clients and staff as well. May also supervise patient health throughout the institution.

Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:
- Supervises subordinate personnel
- Manage food production for 3 meals a day for approximately 75 people
- Coordinate with Foodservice Manager for procuring kitchen equipment, food ordering, menu development, and food delivery to individuals
- During the work week, manage the production and delivery of freezer meals for the weekend meals and holiday meals
- Kitchen organization and cleanliness
- Oversee and manage following food safety protocols
- Refine cooking tasks to improve time and efficiency
Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:
- Cooking experience and recipe development experience
- Basic knowledge of the principles of dietetics/nutrition
- Experience supervising, training and evaluating employee proficiency and efficiency
- The ability to speak, read and write English and follow written and oral directions
- Food Service Supervisor Certificate / ServSafe Certification
- Advanced knowledge and experience in food preparation, sanitation, inventory rotation, large scale ordering, record keeping, safety, and deep-clean scheduling/tracking
- Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time
