The Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS), within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is looking for a Caseworker Specialist I in the Salt Lake office. The Caseworker Specialist I provides adult protection services (APS) by investigating and assessing allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation on vulnerable adults, and documenting investigative findings and client progress toward risk resolution. They serve as a Caseworker Specialist, assisting the supervisor with training caseworkers, monitoring caseworker performance, and supporting the unit supervisor as needed. They conduct Quality Assurance Reviews and carry out other tasks as assigned. They mentor and provide consultation to caseworkers in their day-to-day responsibilities, attend administrative meetings as required, share case management advice and information at staff meetings, and provide community outreach education on vulnerable adult abuse, neglect and exploitation.
This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and telework days. The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside the State of Utah Boundaries. Preference may be given to applicants having an active Social Service Worker or a higher, related license (Certified Social Worker, LCSW, etc.) with the State of Utah.
Responsibilities
Is a mentor to other case workers
Takes calls and assesses the vulnerability of alleged victims
Investigates and assesses allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation on vulnerable adults
Conducts thorough investigations of complex cases requiring coordination across multiple services and addressing diverse client dynamics.
Compiles and assesses data to complete the reports
Coordinates and refer adults to services of community resources, providers, collateral agencies and other community partners
Work closely with other agencies to coordinate care and services for vulnerable adults
Assess vulnerable adults' needs and help implement plans to meet those needs.
Work directly with the APS Care Coordination team.
Minimum Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates who:.
Have at least 2 years of case management, working with vulnerable adults or investigative experience in protective services such as APS or CPS;
Have a social work related licensure such as a Social Service Worker, Certified Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Psychologist, or Marriage and Family Therapist
