The South Dakota Highway Patrol is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Technician . Primary job duties will include installation of all police equipment in new patrol cars. The job also requires maintenance and mechanical work on Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess an ASE Certification in Automotive Repair or have 5 years’ experience as a mechanic in an automotive service department or experience installing emergency equipment in police vehicles.

Licenses And Certifications
ASE Certification is preferred but not required with long term relevant experience. A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred. If not currently held, it may be obtained after hire, with costs covered by the hiring agency.
Questionnaire: Applicants will be required to answer a series of job related questions when submitting an application for this job.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
ASE Mechanic Certification or relevant long term experience in the following: repairing, installing, upfitting and diagnosing emergency vehicle electrical systems. Experience working in an automotive shop or working on emergency vehicles.
Knowledge Of
Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.
