The Office of Procurement Management leads the state’s centralized purchasing program, partnering with agencies to deliver fair, transparent, and well managed procurement. The team is known for its professionalism and focus on continuous improvement.
As a Purchasing Specialist, you will work closely with agencies across state government, guiding them through the purchasing process from start to finish. You will lead solicitations, manage contracts, and support timely, well informed decisions. Success in this role requires clear communication, sound judgment, attention to detail, and practical problem solving, with opportunities to develop your skills and take on new challenges.
Key Responsibilities Include
Knowledge of public procurement practices is preferred. Professional certifications such as CPPB or CPPO are a plus but not required. Additionally, strong attention to detail and clear communication, with the ability to work well with a variety of people across state government. Ideal candidate is willing to learn, ask questions, and adapt to new processes while staying organized and managing multiple priorities. An interest in developing procurement skills and growing in the role is important.
Knowledge Of
This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.

- build and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, agency staff, and the public.
