The mission of the Cooperative Disability Investigations (CDI) Program is to investigate fraud in Social Security Administration (SSA) disability programs. South Dakota's CDI Unit investigates individual disability beneficiaries and claimants, lawyers, doctors, translators, or other third parties who facilitate disability fraud. The results of these investigations are presented to Federal and State prosecutors for consideration of prosecution and to the State DDSs for their use in making timely and accurate disability determinations.
Licenses And Certifications
Possession of a State of South Dakota Law Enforcement Certification or its out-of-state/federal equivalent AT TIME OF APPLICATION is required. Applicants will not be sponsored to attend the Basic Law Enforcement Certification Course.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.
The State of South Dakota does not sponsor work visas for new or existing employees. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete an Employment Eligibility Verification, Form I-9. - Law Enforcement criminal investigations experience.
- Financial crimes/fraud investigative experience.
- Advanced understanding of South Dakota criminal codes.
- Investigate complex topics to include fraud and exploitation to include but not limited to the ability to conduct skillful interviews, interrogations and surveillance.
- Operate computers and associated hardware and software; organize and understand financial records and associated legal documents; organize and prioritize tasks under pressure; write, plan, and execute operations involving the search and seizure of evidence and/or persons in their places of work or residences.
