Job Description

Do you enjoy engaging with individuals and helping the find a good job?

Our Workforce Consultant serves within the Employment Services (ES) division. ES programs improve the functioning of the labor market by bringing together individuals who are seeking employment and employers who are seeking workers. The SC Works system provides jobseekers with career guidance, job referrals, assessments, and résumé assistance. Free tools to assist employers include posting job openings, recruiting and screening candidates, and reviewing job market trends. South Carolina’s 12 local workforce development boards administer the SC Works Centers throughout the state.

The Workforce Consultant is in the Employment Services division in the WorkLink Region. The role performs customer focused case management and career planning to identify barriers to employment and develop solutions for clients. The consultant will conduct needs assessments, assist with the development of individual employment plans, provide focused services, and educate individuals regarding DEW programs, policies, and services. This role will also provide assistance with all services as needed within an SC Works Center.

This position requires scheduled travel to the following counties: Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs assessments and assist in developing Individualized Employment Plans.
  • Provide career counseling, work search activities, and skill advancement information.
  • Assist with ES programs like Wagner-Peyser, TAA, MSFW, and Veteran Services Program.
  • Greets customers, performs initial assessments, and refers them to appropriate programs.
  • Provide workforce services operated by DEW in SC Works Centers.
  • Provide ongoing support with Resource Room duties.
  • Refer work ready clients to Business Consultants and runs applicant searches.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and experience in career counseling or related case management.; OR a high school diploma with a minimum of four years of experience in client centered case management, counseling, or a related field.

Additional Requirements

Will perform case management, Resource room assistance, Client services to both jobseekers and employers and Outreach as outlined in Region Plan. Position may also require periodic overnight travel and evening/weekend work. Holder will also be required to drive routinely as part of their job. Employee may be required to perform additional duties, as necessary.
