Essential Responsibilities
Financial Administration & Operational Tracking
- Process invoices, reimbursements, purchase requests, vendor documentation, and operational financial records
- Maintain expenditure tracking and assist with operational budget preparation and reconciliation activities
- Coordinate financial documentation and payment processing with agency finance personnel
- Track operational and event-related expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and procurement procedures
- Maintain organized operational records, vendor files, contracts, and financial support documentation
- Assist with operational reporting, documentation management, and financial tracking for Commission activities and programs
- Coordinate procurement-related operational paperwork and maintain supporting documentation for vendors and service providers
Event Operations & Logistics Management
- Coordinate operational logistics for Commission meetings, ceremonies, conferences, public programs, educational activities, exhibits, tours, and statewide events
- Develop operational timelines, event schedules, staffing plans, and logistical support documents
- Coordinate venue logistics, transportation, lodging, catering, registration support, audiovisual setup, exhibit deployment, and event materials
- Serve as on-site operational coordinator for assigned Commission events and public programs
- Coordinate event setup, breakdown, transportation, inventory management, and storage of operational materials and exhibits
- Assist with implementation of statewide initiatives including Carolina Days programming and other Commission-led activities Develop operational procedures and logistical standards for public-facing programs and events
Discovery Center Operations & Visitor Services
- Manage the day-to-day operational functions of the SC250 Discovery Center
- Coordinate facility schedules, visitor access, room usage, exhibit readiness, and operational logistics
- Maintain staffing and volunteer schedules directly related to Discovery Center operations and public activities
- Coordinate exhibit checkout procedures, transportation logistics, inventory tracking, and exhibit returns
- Ensure educational materials, displays, exhibits, and visitor engagement resources remain organized, functional, and operationally ready
- Coordinate operational support for tours, meetings, educational visits, and public programs hosted within the Discovery Center
- Serve as the primary operational point of contact for Discovery Center activities, facility usage, and exhibit logistics
- Assist with implementation of visitor engagement activities and educational programming in coordination with the Education Director and Commission staff
- Coordinate maintenance needs, supply inventory, and operational readiness of Discovery Center spaces and equipment
Education & Public Engagement Support
- Coordinate operational scheduling and logistical support for tours, school visits, educational activities, and public engagement programs in collaboration with the Education Director
- Assist with implementation of student engagement activities, interpretive experiences, and visitor services initiatives
- Coordinate operational setup and distribution of educational materials, exhibits, and outreach resources
- Support visitor engagement efforts connected to Discovery Center programming and statewide Commission events
- Assist with operational support for educational partnerships, heritage tourism initiatives, and public-facing programming activities
Partnership Development & External Coordination
- Assist in developing and maintaining operational partnerships with museums, historic sites, educational institutions, tourism organizations, local governments, vendors, and community organizations
- Coordinate logistics and operational support for collaborative exhibits, programs, events, and public engagement initiatives
- Maintain working relationships with venues, service providers, tourism partners, and participating organizations supporting Commission activities
- Support operational coordination for touring exhibits, educational outreach opportunities, and partnership-driven programming
- Assist with identifying opportunities to expand visitor engagement, exhibit utilization, and collaborative public programming
Administrative & Operational Support
- Prepare operational schedules, event support documents, logistical plans, and organizational tracking materials
- Maintain calendars, inventory systems, exhibit tracking records, and operational planning documents
- Coordinate internal operational communications related to scheduling, logistics, and event implementation
- Assist with records management, documentation organization, and operational workflow support
- Support special operational projects and assignments related to Discovery Center activities, exhibits, public programs, and Commission events
The SC250 Operations & Engagement Manager is responsible for the operational administration and logistical execution of Commission programs, events, financial processes, Discovery Center activities, and visitor engagement initiatives connected to the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission (SC250).
This position manages day-to-day operational functions that support Commission meetings, statewide events, educational activities, exhibit coordination, facility operations, public programs, and financial administration. Responsibilities include operational budgeting support, invoice and reimbursement processing, Discovery Center management, exhibit logistics, visitor services coordination, and implementation of public-facing activities.
The position focuses on operational execution, facility coordination, event management, financial administration, and public engagement support rather than executive leadership, statewide strategic management, policy development, or agency-wide personnel supervision.
The position works collaboratively with Commission leadership, agency partners, educators, vendors, volunteers, tourism organizations, museums, and community stakeholders to ensure efficient operational support of SC250 initiatives statewide.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer or designated supervisor of the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission (SC250).
- Experience in operations management, event logistics, financial administration, museum operations, visitor services, public programming, tourism coordination, or nonprofit/government administration
- Experience coordinating conferences, exhibits, educational programming, public events, or visitor engagement activities
- Knowledge of invoice processing, reconciliations, operational budgeting, procurement procedures, and financial record management
- Strong organizational, scheduling, inventory management, and logistical coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple operational projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with museums, educational institutions, tourism organizations, public history programs, or heritage sites preferred
- Experience coordinating partnership-driven programs and collaborative public events preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, scheduling systems, inventory tracking systems, and operational planning tools
- Ability to travel statewide and work evenings or weekends as needed
Work Environment
This position involves office operations, Discovery Center management, statewide travel, public event coordination, exhibit handling, and operational support activities. Evening and weekend work may be required based on event schedules and Commission programming needs. Overnight stays are generally not necessary. Must have or be able to obtain a valid S.C. driver's license.
Salary : $45,300 - $77,000
