Job Responsibilities
This employee will be assigned to SCDNR's Office of Education, Outreach and Public Information (EOI), and will be tasked with identifying and presenting key coastal outreach messages to target audiences through an array of methods.
Job Duties Include
A bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in communications, public administration, environmental sustainability, natural resource/coastal management, or social science and three (3) years of related experience. Knowledge and experience in natural resource management, environmental sustainability, coastal or marine science, and/or coastal communications preferred. Knowledge and experience in science translation communication, public-private-partnerships, media reporter coordination, computers, cameras, and audiovisual equipment. Proficiency in photography, design, and visual storytelling. Experience with mass communication, using social media networks, analytics, and other tools to promote messages, events, and engage with the public. Graphics ability to develop and design informational/educational displays and publications preferred. Ability to organize, edit and oversee publication of written material. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions. Ability to participate in day travel and some overnight travel.

Job Duties Include
- Identifying and organizing SCDNR's key coastal outreach and public information messages while ensuring those messages align with the priorities of the agency and key partners.
- Leading efforts to produce outreach products around established messages that highlight SCDNR stewardship efforts and expertise.
- Coordinating with partners (SAFMC, DES, Sea Grant, etc.) to resolve and align agency communication messages.
- Ensuring that products are developed using current best practices for education, outreach and public information.
- Serving as the lead social media specialist for SCDNR's Marine Resources Division (MRD).
- Overseeing content strategy and audience engagement across coastal regions, while aligning with agency branding, accessibility standards, and storytelling goals.
- Supporting EOI and all coastal-based divisions by:
- maintaining a catalogue of education, outreach products, articles, etc.
- effectively using the agency management asset platforms for photographs, video, and other support materials
- providing technical assistance to staff and training as needed.
- producing monthly and annual reports as directed.
