Job Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching Responsibilities
- Instruction including hands on and theory, classroom management, and administrative tasks that may include reports, syllabus and lesson plan development.
- Prepare and/or maintain current course syllabi for course taught.
- Ensure course is taught in accordance with the established syllabus.
- Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis.
- Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Direct supervision of students in a variety of clinical settings.
Instructional Development
- Recommend for approval adequate instructional materials for course.
- Work with other areas of the college such as Tutoring, Retention, etc. to help ensure student success.
- Recommend adequate laboratory facilities/equipment for assigned course.
Professional Development
- Attend relevant professional meetings.
- Represent the College positively in interactions with the community and with professional and academic groups at local, state, and national levels.
- Maintain frequent communication with PCT program faculty (or course coordinators).
- Associate degree (Nursing) with Registered Nurse (RN) license, or Diploma in nursing with Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license who works under the supervision of the primary instructor (RN).
- One (1) year of experience in long-term care caring for the elderly and/or the chronically ill of any age and two (2) years of experience in the discipline also required.
- Active, unencumbered SC RN or LPN license
- Current American Heart Association Provider CPR (Adult & Child)
- Must meet all requirements for clinical participation per clinical facility.
- Previous teaching or training experience preferred but not required.
- At least two (2) years of recent practical experience with venipuncture and specimen collection and/or electrocardiogram in a clinical setting.
- Current American Heart Association Instructor CPR (Adult & Child)
