Job Responsibilities
Located in Plum Branch, South Carolina, Hamilton Branch State Park occupies a peninsula on the 70,000-acre Lake Thurmond. Thanks to activities such as fishing, boating and lakefront camping, the park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts looking to spend time on the water.
Job Purpose And Duties
Performs duties necessary for maintenance and upkeep of state parks to include repair and construction, of facilities, operation and repair of motorized equipment, grounds keeping and landscaping activities. Assists with the administration and the operation of a state park; assists park visitors.
High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year general maintenance experience.

Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.

Job Purpose And Duties
Performs duties necessary for maintenance and upkeep of state parks to include repair and construction, of facilities, operation and repair of motorized equipment, grounds keeping and landscaping activities. Assists with the administration and the operation of a state park; assists park visitors.
- Assists with identifying maintenance needs, planning and scheduling maintenance activities, and maintaining applicable maintenance records.
- Performs basic grounds maintenance and assists with more involved tasks and projects (including grounds keeping, landscaping, etc.).
- Perform basic facility and infrastructure maintenance, repairs and improvements and assists with more involved task and projects (including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, etc.).
- Performs maintenance and basic repairs on vehicles and motorized equipment.
- Performs clean-up, janitorial and grounds keeping activities.
- Practice and promote teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
- Assists with administrative and operational duties.
High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year general maintenance experience.
Additional Requirements
- Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights, exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.
- Ability to read and understand written procedures and directions; ability to perform simple arithmetic computation. Ability to operate a variety of power tools.
- Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
