This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Columbia Area Mental Health Center, 2715 Colonial Drive, Suite 200A, Columbia, SC 29203.
As the Mental Health Professional I, you will provide intensive case management to a diverse and challenging consumer population of clients with chronic psychiatric and co-occurring disorders, with the intent to prevent or minimize hospitalization and enhance community placement, under the supervision of the Program Supervisor.
Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional I:A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences, or a related field.Additional Requirements:
- Although this position is a dayshift, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday schedule, there may be occasions that hours may be extended beyond the normal working hours for duties such as extra effort needed to complete assignments that may be dictated by crisis/emergency situations.
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Possess a thorough knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostics, counseling, case management and recovery. Possess good interpersonal skills to work with consumers and other agencies. Have considerable knowledge of local agencies and facilities. Be able to provide services to serious, persistent mentally ill persons and the dually diagnosed. Be able to work with families and be credentialed as a Mental Health Professional.
