- Serves as supervisor for the Broad River Complex Main Gate.
- Instructs and monitors subordinates in secure and efficient daily operations.
- Ensures that Broad River Main Gate is staffed properly and all agency policies and procedures are adhered to concerning employees, visitors and vendors.
- Conducts training in all areas that incumbent has T4T or instructor certifications.
- Maintain instructor certifications or re-certifies as required.
- Provide security and advance tactical escorts/transports when necessary, or as directed by Director of Division of Security or designee.
- Serves as on-call official on a rotating schedule, and responds to institutional emergencies/escapes when needed or as directed.
- Assists and supports the Division of Security with institutional security audits, special projects and assignments as necessary.
- Serves as ESHO back up for Division of Security.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
- A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
- Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
