What are the responsibilities and job description for the Horticulture Supervisor (#010389) Support Services Administration, Columbia (RICHLAND) position at State of South Carolina?
- Under general supervision from the Chief Horticulturist, plan, monitor and supervise a horticulture program for inmates at your assigned location and other sites (if applicable).
- Perform duties relating to the function of horticulture/grounds maintenance activities working with inmates to support a horticulture/grounds maintenance program and other horticulture special projects as assigned.
- Provide supervision and instruction to inmate participants/assigned staff for the care of the complex grounds concerning landscape installation, maintenance, vegetable gardening and seasonal color.
- Maintain equipment.
- Responsible for inventory of chemicals, accountable for tools/equipment.
- Responsible for the security of the work area.
- Establish and maintain a greenhouse.
- Assist with special event support.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

A high school diploma and custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance experience directly related to the area of employment.

A high school diploma and custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance experience directly related to the area of employment.
A horticulture degree focusing on the science and art of growing and managing plants.
