What are the responsibilities and job description for the HMW I: Small Equipment Operator (61033100) position at State of South Carolina?
Operates a five yard dump truck to haul material using during shoulder and ditching operations. Performs necessary hand work for ditching operations including shovel work dressing around mailboxes and cleaning dirt from the mouth of a pipe. Trains in the operation of a front-end loader in the loading of materials needed for ditching operations, e.g. earth materials, clay, sand, and aggregate. Assists with the placement of traffic control devices to properly set up a maintenance work zone. Serves as a flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance work zones. Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations, may include being available for extended working hours or 12-hour shifts. Operates other small equipment such as and asphalt roller and concrete mixer for asphalt road and bridge repairs.
There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.A resume may be included but NOT substituted for completing the education, work experience, or any other sections of the application.
