Job Responsibilities

Performs manual labor, in such tasks as clearing debris from rights-of-way, cutting trees, litter pick up, and weed eating around signs. Operates 5 yard dump truck in hauling material and equipment to job sites. Operates dump truck with both snow removal and salt brine application equipment during winter weather operations. Operates equipment such as tractors with large mowers in mowing of shoulders and rights-of-way. Assists with the placement of traffic control devices to properly set up maintenance work zones. Serves as a flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance work zones. Operates small equipment such as brush chipper, self-contained sweeper, tractor with broom, and tractor with mower (<= 10'wide) during various maintenance operations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
