This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center 2319 St. Matthews Road Orangeburg SC 29118.

As the Front Desk Supervisor, working under general supervision of the Executive Director at Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center (OAMHC), you will provide supervision and coordination of all administrative support functions for the Center and outlying clinics. 

Responsibilities for the Front Desk Supervisor include:
  • Supervise and coordinate all administrative functions of the Orangeburg Clinic for the purposes of data collection, fiscal responsibility per BHDD Finance Policy,
    and administrative maintenance of patient records (electronic and paper) per OAMHC/BHDD Policy and Procedure for Record Management.
  • Supervise and coordinate all administrative support functions which impact patient services:
    • provide administrative management of clinical schedule to assure maximum use of available time
    • oversee reception and direction of all patients to maintain a safe and friendly environment and maintain an efficient flow of services
    • conduct administrative intakes to open patient charts in the patient information system and to determine the individual funding source/fee schedule
    • provide insurance authorizations
    • provide resolution of patient complaint regarding billing procedures
    • schedule Medicaid and non-Medicaid transportation services for patients.
  • Supervise and coordinate all administrative functions which provide support for clinical staff
    • cross-train support staff to assure continuous coverage
    • provide training and support for the electronic scheduler and the electronic medical record
    • scan patient information into the electronic medical record: release of OAMHC clinical records
    • request of records from other sources using HIPAA guidelines.
  • Supervise administrative support personnel in the function of their duties; distribute work assignments according to skill level and appropriateness; arranges for coverage of essential duties in the absence of staff.
  • Coordinate administrative support for the Recovery Center related to billing, scanning for the electronic medical record, and patient financial reviews.
  • Represent the Executive Director, Chief of Staff and Medical Director in contact with public officials, other agencies and the general public.
  • A high school diploma and two (2) years of clerical experience; or associate degree in secretarial science or other related field; or three (3) years of clerical experience.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Post hire, employees must:
  • Be able to complete Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) certification
  • Have extensive knowledge of office management, policies, practices and procedures. 
  • Have considerable knowledge of computer programs, clerical formats and language usage. 
  • Have ability for record-keeping, general administrative functions 
  • Have the ability to supervise a small staff of support employees

Salary : $40,086 - $54,162
