Building/Grounds Specialist I
The Department of Administration's (Admin) Division of Facilities Management and Property Services is seeking a Building/Grounds Specialist I to join the team. Facilities Management (FM) maintains and operates approximately 53 buildings which include the State House, Capitol Complex Office Buildings, the Governor’s Mansion and other buildings in the Columbia area. In this role you will perform general custodial duties in state owned buildings to keep them up to departmental standards.
Responsibilities of the Building/Grounds Specialist I:
- Perform such tasks as sweeping, dust mopping and wet mopping of tile/marble floors to keep the state-owned buildings up to department's cleaning standards.
- Use extension pole dusters, regular lambs, wool dusters, to maintain all high and low dusting/cleaning of window ledges, sills throughout assigned buildings to meet the custodial departments standards.
- Handle the daily removal of trash, recycle paper, recycle cardboard, recycle aluminum cans and plastic bottles.
- Perform custodial duties not to be provided by the contractor as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Must be able to perform routine Custodial tasks as directed by the custodial supervisor. Position requires frequent stooping and/or bending. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Position requires frequent lifting: 35lbs. Position may be required to report to work during emergency situations and hazardous weather events.
