The Associate Vice President of Philanthropy/CEO of the MTC Foundation provides leadership and strategic planning for garnering philanthropic support from the community, alumni, and employees. Directs all development activities associated with major gifts and gift planning, branding, communications, donor prospecting, capital campaign, annual campaign, funds, and fundraising activities. Works collaboratively and cooperatively with constituents and internal stakeholders, to include Marketing and Communications, to enhance the community perception and Executive Council. Responsible for community, alumni, Foundation relations, and capital campaign initiatives.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Direct, lead, and advance a comprehensive philanthropic program that includes strong fundraising strategies aligned with the college’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities. Fundraising initiatives and activities include, but are not limited to, capital campaigns, annual giving campaigns, endowment development and growth, deferred giving, and other resource development activities. Ensure philanthropic investments directly support student success, access, scholarships, and workforce development priorities. Develop and oversee promotional strategies related to the Foundation's activities. Develop and execute long-range departmental strategies to include creating and maintaining a vibrant culture of philanthropy both internally and externally.
  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain relationships and campaigns with corporate, alumni, governmental, and other constituents. Research, recommend, and execute community engagement fundraising strategies. Serve as the primary ambassador for the Foundation and through collaborative efforts, cultivate existing donor relationships, and develop new donor relationships. Actively seek corporate/private gifts, as well as oversee and lead the MTC Foundation Board in the development of proposals for funding from corporations and other entities. Develop, grow, and solicit prospects and donors and secure transformative gifts. Implement donor recognition and engagement programs that strengthen donor retention and recurring support.
  • Work closely with the MTC Foundation Board and its development to cultivate a strong relationship, ensure effective governance, strategic alignment, engagement, and accountability. Serve as the college's liaison to the MTC Foundation Board and ensure board alignment with fundraising priorities, as well as compliance with by-laws and policies.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of departmental staff and foster a high-performing and mission-driven team culture. Oversee all finances for the Foundation including budgeting, investment performance, and financial reporting. Responsible for general oversight of the Foundation’s portfolio and funds manager, as well as policies and procedures.
This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Harbison Campus.
Master’s degree plus six (6) years of progressively responsible related work experience.
Demonstrated experience in resource development, fundraising, and alumni relations, preferably in a large public institution of higher education. Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to charitable giving, strong leadership skills, public speaking skills, and relationship building skills. Certification as a fundraising executive is a plus.
