What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Instructor, Transitional Mathematics position at State of South Carolina?
Teach Introductory College Mathematics (MAT 100), Elementary Algebra (MAT 101 or MAT 152) or Elementary Algebra II (MAT 102 or MAT 153) courses to a diverse student body, including Early College students. Teaching varying schedules at various locations and formats. The adjunct instructor will follow the established syllabus, using multiple instructional methods that emphasize student success and retention, assessing learning, utilizing the college’s learning management system for grading and various instructional purposes, and participating in the department’s continuous improvement process. Baccalaureate degree in mathematics, secondary mathematics education, statistics, or a related baccalaureate degree in engineering, computer science, natural sciences, natural sciences education, or other approved area (with substantial mathematics coursework) and demonstrated competence in the teaching discipline. Traditional classroom and online teaching experience preferred. Master’s degree in any discipline with nine to twelve graduate semester hours in mathematics, mathematics education, statistics, engineering, computer science, natural sciences, natural sciences education, or related discipline. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures. Teaching experience at a two-year college and/or teaching experience in adult education. Experience teaching with instructional technology, knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement innovative teaching strategies.
The hours adjunct faculty work are dependent upon the times the courses are offered.
