What you will do:
As the Alcohol Beverage Licensing (ABL) Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the ABL Section, providing guidance on licensing processes, resolving complex issues, and identifying opportunities to improve services, procedures, and overall operational efficiency.
Primary job duties include:
- Overseeing and managing the functions of the ABL Section, including supervision of staff and oversight of licensing, compliance, enforcement, and related operational processes
- Overseeing the review and processing of ABL applications; server certificates; brand registrations; public protests; law enforcement protests; SLED investigative reports and violations; and Orders of Cancellation, Suspension, and Revocation
- Maintaining effective partnerships with the Litigation Section, Taxpayer Assistance Section, SLED, and other stakeholders
- Overseeing the review and compliance of alcohol server training programs and collaborating with DBHDD and SLED
- Providing guidance and technical expertise on South Carolina ABL laws, regulations, legislation, and departmental procedures while ensuring accurate and timely information is provided to customers and stakeholders
- Advising agency leadership on critical issues, media inquiries, General Assembly questions, and new legislation affecting operations
- Assisting with the implementation of strategic initiatives, business plans, and performance measures that support division and agency goals
- Representing the agency through speaking engagements and outreach efforts related to ABL laws, regulations, and licensing processes
- Testifying before the General Assemblyas requested
A bachelor’s degree and relevant program management experience
- Relevant experience or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR)
Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Additional Requirements:
- A valid Driver’s License
- Ability for statewide travel
Advanced degree in business, taxation, government administration, or organizational leadership

- Telework schedule: This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week after one year of employment with SCDOR
