Job Responsibilities
Plans, assigns, and monitors daily work activities for mechanics in the light-medium duty equipment prep and repair section of shop. Monitors the quality and level of productivity to ensure efficient performance stands are maintained. Supervises and assists with preventative maintenance services and repairs on vehicles, trucks, and equipment. Verify necessary repairs are complete prior to releasing to custodian. Supervises and assists with new light-medium duty equipment preparation for issue. Verifies all required items are installed and items are clean prior to issue. Maintains issue records. Prepares and maintain service tickets for preventative maintenance services, vehicle and equipment repairs. Supervises and assists with preparing used vehicles, trucks and equipment to be disposed. Recommends vehicles, trucks, and equipment to be disposed. Ensures safety regulations and compliance guidelines are maintained within the medium-heavy duty equipment prep and repair section of the shop. Ensures all hazardous waste and materials are properly stored and or disposed as per DHEC regulations. Assesses overall shop operations to develop and implement plans for providing efficient and quality work productivity. Makes recommends for obtaining new service equipment, tools, training, and facility upgrades in the shop. Responsible for establishing and maintaining custodial services for the Supply & Equipment complex. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and four (4) years of work experience that involved the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Completion of one (1) academic year of a South Carolina High School Automotive Technology or Diesel Engine curriculum may substitute for six (6) months of directly related experience. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulate objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. grasping. This position requires working in a large garage setting and may perform duties in an uncomfortable position for long periods of time. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
