We are looking for a joyful, creative, and dependable person to join our team as a Part-Time Open Play & Art Studio Coordinator. About the Role
The Open Play & Art Studio Coordinator will help create a welcoming and engaging experience for children ages 1–6 and their families. You will oversee the daily organization and care of our art studio, plan and prepare weekly process-based art projects, and support the smooth operation of Open Play.
We are looking for someone who brings warmth, initiative, creativity, and a genuine love of children to their work. You should feel comfortable connecting with families, getting messy, thinking on your feet, and helping maintain a space that is both inspiring and well cared for.
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare weekly process-based art projects that are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and accessible for children ages 1–6.
- Manage the art studio, including organizing materials, maintaining supplies, preparing invitations, and keeping the space clean, beautiful, and ready for exploration.
- Create open-ended art experiences that encourage experimentation, creativity, sensory exploration, and individual expression rather than a predetermined finished product.
- Welcome families and help create a warm, inclusive, and positive Open Play experience.
- Engage with children and caregivers, offering support and encouragement while allowing children to lead their own play and creative process.
- Assist with daily Open Play operations, including setup, cleanup, maintaining play areas, and supporting special events when needed.
- Monitor art supplies and communicate purchasing or replenishment needs to management.
- Collaborate with the State of Play team to develop new ideas, seasonal experiences, and creative opportunities for families.
Qualifications
- Experience working with young children, preferably ages 1–6.
- A passion for art, creativity, early childhood development, or process-based learning.
- Ability to independently plan and prepare engaging art experiences.
- Warm, friendly, dependable, and comfortable communicating with families.
- Organized and able to manage materials, supplies, and daily studio responsibilities.
- Comfortable working in a busy, playful environment and adapting to the needs of young children.
- Experience in early childhood education, art education, childcare, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
