What You'll Do:
The Department of Youth Services provides stability, support, safety, and security for all employees of DYS. The Operations Manager will provide valuable services to the Youth we serve.
Specifically, the Operations Manager will:
Accepts the responsibility to ensure & protect youth at all times from harm.
Directs & guides staff during Use of Force (UOF) & prevents physical harm or excessive force against a youth.
Serves as a mandatory report of abuse.
Supervises Youth Specialist assigned to one shift (e.g., provides instruction & training; completes performance evaluations; approves/denies requests for leave; investigates need for disciplinary action): oversees safety & security of juvenile residential facility on one shift (e.g., serves as site supervisor on assigned shift; conducts briefing & roll call for Youth Specialist staff on shift; provides direction to lower level supervisors & Youth Specialists to ensure security, custody, safety control & programming); monitors & assures programs are held as scheduled including adherence to special management plans; conducts investigations of youth &/or employee incidents for disciplinary action; responds to institutional direct, indirect or programmatic questions to resolve issues related to institution operations; assists in developing & implementing post orders; assists with processing volunteers; assists with ensuring compliance with all applicable standards subject to audit; coordinates & directs all major youth movements within institution (e.g., meal movement, to & from school movement, outside movement); directs & coordinates institutional searches; coordinates admission of new youth; accounts for, controls & issues all institution communication & security equipment (e.g., radios, handcuffs, Personal Protection Pouch (PPP)).
Responds to assistance calls & serves as the Incident Commander (IC).

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check that includes results from BCI & FBI, Public Safety, and State of Ohio Taxation. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services must partake in paid, mandatory 4 weeks of training. Week 1 is held at CJCF, weeks 2 through 4 are held in Orient, Ohio, 10-hour training days, Monday through Thursday.
