Summary of Work
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of social work and work closely with our team to assist residents within a maximum-security facility. As an intern, you will be exposed to a variety of tasks and have the chance to develop professional skills in social work practice.
Our social worker interns are an integral part of the behavioral health department within the institution. Duties include completion of mental health assessments and treatment programs involving complex cases such as emotional and behavioral disorders along with follow up treatment planning and professional documentation, co-facilitating treatment programs, resident check-ins, coordination of services, and opportunities to observe and monitor case managers and/or treatment staff.
Internship duration: 150 hours to be completed from May - August.
Student Requirements
To be eligible for a North Dakota State Government Stipend Student Internship, a student:
- Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical program in the United States, and
- Must be at least of sophomore standing by the beginning of the internship (or must have completed the first year of a vocational/technical program by the beginning of the internship), and
- Must have a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Must be working in an internship that aligns with the student's academic major or career goals.
