What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lewis and Clark State Park Seasonal Outdoor Educator or Naturalist position at State of North Dakota and Careers?
Duties and Tasks
- Research, prepare, develop, and present accurate informational programs and hands-on activities to general audiences and special interest groups (i.e. school, scout, youth, adult) surrounding natural sciences, cultural resources, history, and/or recreational opportunities while utilizing a variety of programming materials.
- Assist with special events, festivals, and outreach programs.
- Engage with visitors in a friendly and professional manner to enhance their visit and experience.
- Design educational materials including brochures and social media content.
- Support park team members with general operations as needed.
- Because ND State Parks are open 24/7 you may be required to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to clearly communicate instructions, directions, programs, and information to people of all ages, interests, viewpoints, and backgrounds.
- Ability to conduct nature and/or recreational programs/activities in a variety of terrain, weather, and light settings.
- Ability to wear a provided uniform.
- Pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training or experience in a communication, science, history, education and/or interpretive field
