Summary of Work
The Chateau team works together to ensure a pristine experience for every visitor through excellent interpretation and efficient maintenance work. We hope you can join us in this endeavor!
Job Duration: Flexible! June through August. Weekly work hours 20-40 preferred, hours and duration subject to negotiation.
The Grounds & Maintenance Technician is responsible for:
- Landscape maintenance, including lawn mowing, tree pruning, and weeding in all areas.
- Maintaining general cleanliness of the site. This involves trash removal from all locations, picking up debris, sweeping, making sure public areas are clean, etc.
- Maintain machinery and tools in proper working order.
- Keep inventory of supplies on hand and inform supervisor of needs.
- Remove trash from all locations and transport to designated dumpster.
- Perform some painting of structures, both interior and exterior.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including holidays with the potential for weekends and evenings.
- Must be able to lift/move 50 pounds.
- Must have a current driver's license.
- Must be able communicate effectively and work with guests and team members.
- Must have experience using machinery and tools such as riding lawn mowers, skid steer, chainsaw, string trimmer, power drill, and various hand tools.

About the Chateau de Mores State Historic Site: Located in Medora, North Dakota, the Chateau de Mores State Historic Site interprets the ambitions of the Marquis de Mores in Dakota Territory. Our interpretive center serves guests as a place to learn the story of the Marquis and his family, share local and regional travel information, and enjoy unencumbered views of Historic Medora. Guests step back in time when visiting the original Chateau and outbuildings, they can stroll the wooded path through some of the Marquis' ranch holdings, and picnic in the shadows of his abattoir ruins.
