Duties and Tasks

Specifically, successful candidates would be responsible to:
  • Research, prepare, develop, and present accurate informational programs and hands-on activities to general audiences and special interest groups (i.e. school, scout, youth, adult) surrounding natural, historical, and cultural facilities and resources.
  • Assist with special events, festivals, and outreach programs.
  • Engage with visitors in a friendly and professional manner to enhance their visit and experience.
  • Design educational materials including brochures and social media content.
  • Engage with visitors in a visitor center/museum setting and provide gift shop retail services.
  • Support park team members with general operations as needed.
  • Because ND State Parks are open 24/7 you may be required to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to clearly communicate instructions, directions, and information to people of all ages, interests, viewpoints, and backgrounds.
  • Ability to conduct historical programs/activities/tours in a variety of terrain, indoor/outdoor, weather, and light settings which may be in period uniform.
  • Ability to wear a provided uniform
  • Pass a criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training or experience in a communication, science, history, education and/or interpretive field.
