Life Skills and Transition Center (LSTC) - Grafton, ND - Food Service Assistant -TEMP
This is a long-term temporary flex position that will be approximately 4 days a week 5 hours each day and will support LSTC Dietary services.
As our Food Service Assistant, you will play an important role in helping prepare and serve nutritious, appealing meals in a safe and sanitary environment. Your work will support the health, wellness, and individual preferences of the people living and working at LSTC.
You will assist with preparing and serving food by working on the cafeteria tray line, creating salads, cutting fruits and vegetables, and portioning food items and desserts according to established serving sizes. You will need to understand therapeutic diet consistency and alteration requirements and be able to read and follow recipe cards written in English. You will also help ensure that food being prepared and served is maintained within safe temperature ranges and that all temperatures are properly documented.
You will assist with cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and food preparation areas, including dishwashing and ensuring workspaces remain organized and sanitary. Part of your responsibilities will include documenting the amounts of food prepared, leftover, or short during meal service. You will also clean and sanitize all work areas and equipment to maintain food safety and infection control standards, helping prevent the spread of germs and cross contamination so that meals are served safely to those at LSTC.
To succeed in this position, you will promote job safety and follow universal precautions while completing your daily duties. You will stay up to date on required food service trainings and be willing to participate in learning opportunities that support your professional growth. Maintaining knowledge of proper safety and sanitation procedures will be essential. You will also need to be comfortable taking direction and recognizing when to ask questions or seek clarification on policies, recipes, or therapeutic diet requirements to ensure meals are prepared and served correctly.
To be considered for this position, you must have a high school diploma or GED AND one (1) year of similar food preparation experience.
