Visitor Relations Specialist

Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Visitor Relations Specialist position to work on 2nd shift. Visitor Relations Specialists serve as the primary receptionist in the hospital's front lobby and are responsible for greeting, directing and escorting Broughton Hospital visitors, employees, and vendors to designated areas within the hospital, including patient units. Visitor Relations Specialists are also responsible for managing information desk technology, operating the main telephone switchboard, and performing routine visitor searches. Ideal candidates have excellent customer service skills, exude professionalism, and can effectively and clearly communicate with hospital staff, patients and the public at various levels.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To The Following

  • Monitoring the front lobby, and door call systems
  • Observing lobby for cleanliness and tidy area when necessary
  • Registering visitors in the Lobby Guard system and issuing visitor name badges
  • Operating metal detectors, both standing and hand-held; Inspecting and cataloging visitor items such as clothing, food, monetary donations, personal comforts and any other forms of personal items entering the hospital, including but not limited to preventing all contraband from entering
  • Utilize the Patient Directory to locate patients throughout the building
  • Communicating effectively and clearly with the public at various levels with the possibility of stressful conditions maintaining a calm demeanor
  • Learning and communicating hospital policies, regulations, and programs to visitors

The normal work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 1:00pm - 9:30pm and works every third weekend. This position is designated Mandatory and is required to work during inclement weather and may be required to provide overtime coverage.

Selected applicants must be able to pass a State Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check, and complete and pass BLS/CPR training and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training during orientation.

Qualified Candidates Must Document On The Application That They Clearly Possess The Following

  • One (1) year of administrative experience
  • Experience assessing and/or documenting information in a computer or web-based system (Such as Excel)
  • Experience logging and/or tracking information (Such as visitor check-ins, cataloging items, etc.)

Management Prefers Candidates With The Following

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting
  • Experience working with the Lobby Guard badging system and/or Visitor Relations experience
  • Experience operating a multi-line phone system and/or transferring calls to a switchboard
  • Experience operating a standup and/or handheld metal detectors
  • Experience with NC Motor Fleet Management operations and/or procedures as it relates to the issuance, maintenance, and/or use of State-owned vehicles

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
