This is a home-based position servicing Catawba, Iredell, Alexander, Allegheny, Ashe, Caldwell, Davie, Surry, Watauga and Wilkes counties. The Nursing Home State Surveyor spends an average of three days per week in nursing homes conducting inspections. Occasionally inspections are required on weekends and night shift. Although management attempts to schedule inspections within a region, the consultant needs to expect overnight stays when the nursing home is greater than 60 miles from their home-base.
The Nursing Home State Surveyor (Facility Compliance Consultant I) position involves regulatory activities to determine compliance of nursing homes with federal and state federal and state requirements through inspections.
Job responsibilities include:
- Apply laws, regulations, rules, and protocols that have been established by the state or federal government.
- Decisions are made in conjunction with interdisciplinary team members or independently.
- Involves completion of survey reports.
- Must pass the Federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) within 2 years of hire.

- Strong clinical background, including assessment, care planning and delivery of care.

If a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), must be licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina.
Bachelor s degree in a health, human service, or educational related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Social Work Master s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and one year experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or Bachelor s degree, in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Dietetics Bachelor s degree in nutrition or food service management from an appropriately accredited institution and three years experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field, eligible for registration from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
