This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.
Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. This temporary position is located at 2577 W 5th Street -Pitt County, with the Department of Health & Human Services.
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $44.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.
Management Preferences:
- Considerable knowledge of professional nursing theory, techniques, practices.
- Working knowledge of management and supervisory methods, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to implement the nursing process (assess, plan, implement and evaluate) to meet patient needs.
- Ability to direct and carry out prescribed medical treatments and therapeutic programs.
- Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of healthcare staff.
- Ability to actively motivate employees and develop team camaraderie and commitment towards meeting the objectives of higher management.
- Ability to advise and counsel employees on job performance and conduct.
- Ability to actively seek to coach and mentor staff.
- Ability to prepare and maintain reports of activities and patient progress.
- Ability to identify and address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for a unit.
Minimum Education and Experience

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of nursing experience.
