The position is responsible for reviewing permit submittals, construction plans, traffic studies, and subdivision plans for compliance with NCDOT standards.

Work requires knowledge of construction plan interpretation, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, surveying equipment, drafting tools, and computer applications such as Microsoft Office and drafting software (e.g., MicroStation).

Additional duties include supporting the Division during emergencies and inclement weather, ensuring adherence to NCDOT specifications, and assisting the District Engineer with assigned tasks. The employee must acquire and maintain certifications such as QMS Asphalt, Concrete Testing, Borrow Pit Sampling, Level II Erosion Control, and any other required credentials. The position also requires the ability to lift 40-50 pounds, work in high-traffic areas, heights, uneven terrain, and in varying weather conditions, including nights and weekends when necessary.
