Description of Work

The Adjustment Services Instructor provides work adjustment training to individuals with disabilities to help them develop the skills, behaviors, and work habits needed for successful competitive employment. The position transports work materials to and from businesses that contract with WorkSource West, enabling consumers to participate in real work experiences that build vocational skills and increase employability. The role may also assist with transporting consumers to job sites and program activities using agency vehicles.

Key responsibilities include teaching appropriate work behaviors—such as productivity, safety awareness, and workplace conduct—in authentic work settings; evaluating consumer readiness for employment through observation of productivity and behavior; and managing job setup, workflow, and quality assurance for contract work. The position also provides orientation and supervision to consumers participating in the program, documents services in accordance with each individual's rehabilitation plan, and delivers curriculum-based and skills-focused training to support consumer progress.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.  

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

· Knowledge of or experience assisting individuals in obtaining and maintaining employment.

· Ability to work effectively as part of a team to support program goals and consumer needs.

· Ability to meet transportation requirements, including holding a valid North Carolina driver's license to operate state vehicles.

· Experience working with individuals with disabilities and providing case management or related support services.

· Ability to safely operate or learn to operate specialized equipment, such as a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) vehicle or forklift.

Salary Range: $34, $59,973.00

Position is funded in part through federal funds.

Veterans' and National Guard Preference

Bachelor's degree in a human services or business field such as human resources, marketing, business administration, business management, healthcare management, or public administration from an appropriately accredited institution;

or Associate's degree in a human services or business field (identified above) from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience;

or High school or General Educational Development (GED) and four years of directly related work experience;

or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
