If so, continue reading to learn more about this exciting opportunity with the Samarcand Training Academy located in Jackson Springs, NC (Moore County).This Administrative Specialist I will function as an office manager and serve as the main point of contact for the administrative building and provide administrative support to the management team, HR and business staff with direct supervision from the Business Officer.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Creating and maintaining electronic and hardcopy files, managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and creating correspondence, reports, and presentations
- Assisting with monthly meetings, including taking of minutes and preparation of documents for meetings.
- Assisting with Academy events, partner and staff notifications, coordinating and processing travel, including reimbursement.
- Receiving building visitors and receiving/distributing mail.
- Assisting and serving as a backup to the accounting team with E-Procurement, WEX, BOA, and North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) to maintain business functions in a timely manner.
- Serving as the back up to the HR Tech to maintain HR functions in a timely manner, including serving as the assistant Health Benefit Representative (HBR), fully understanding the FMLA, LOA, WC, and new hire processes.
- Assisting (on as needed basis) the campus Safety Coordinator in such areas as committee member, primarily serving as the emergency command post representative, fire alarm panel monitor (visual and auditable alerts only), and notifying staff by 2-way radio of system issues.
Position requires strong written, oral communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to keep information confidential and work with minimal supervision.
Job duties for this position require driving a state vehicle. A valid driver’s license must be obtained by date of hire.
Samarcand Training Academy is the primary training facility withing the Department of Public Safety and provides both in-residence and commuter, basic and advanced training courses for law enforcement professionals, including Special Agents for the NC SBI (State Bureau of Investigation) and ALE (Alcohol Law Enforcement), Troopers of the NC Highway Patrol, members of the North Carolina National Guard, officers of Probation & Parole and Juvenile Justice, officers with the UNC system, and members of county and municipal law enforcement from across the state.
Samarcand Training Academy consists of two campuses: the 460-acre main campus in Moore County, and the 113-acre satellite campus in Montgomery County, which is the future home of the Center for Safer Schools. The main campus is made up of 22 buildings; housing, staff and instructor offices; a dining facility; a gymnasium; 2 fitness centers; an auditorium; 13 classrooms; 12 dormitories with 195 student and instructor beds; a Weapons Training Simulator; Firearms Training Center with 2 live-fire ranges and range house; a physically challenging obstacle course; and a tactical training building. Center for Safer Schools Campus includes multiple classrooms and offices, a gymnasium, a cafeteria, a library, an administration building, a large auditorium, and several sports venues. Staff members of Samarcand Training Academy serve both campuses, and while most will have office space on the main campus, several will be co-located with other entities at the Center for Safe Schools campus in the near future,

Salary Recruitment Range: $39,244.00 -$68,679.00

Management Preferences
- Experience in Office Management such as scheduling workplace events including greeting visitors and maintaining files and/or reports.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in Human Resources functions such as Workman’s Compensation and/or Benefits and/or Salary Administration.
- Experience in accounting functions such as E-Procurement and/or WEX and/or BOA and/or the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS).

Military Experience
