This position is a participant in making business decisions, testing and providing supporting account guidance that determines how the SAP R/3 software meets the Department’s existing and future business requirements and how internal business processes function. This position ensures the integrity of general accounting practices, cash management plan, implementation of procedures and guidelines issued by the Office of the State Controller and are responsible for aiding the transition of the Department to the new business system process environment as it relates to LOGO, PVA, TODS SIB and QMS Training. This position supports and provides guidance to the SAP Support Center whose mission is to provide a comprehensive support network for the DOT Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system utilizing SAP software. The North Carolina Department of Transportation’s (NCDOT) is a very complex organization with an annual budget of over $3 billion. Its mission is to provide and support a safe and integrated transportation system for the citizens of North Carolina. The fiscal accountability and maintenance of DOT’s accounts receivable is a mass of diverse activities. It is extremely complex and requires skills comparable to utilizing a robust business system that provides meaningful, accurate, and timely information for the various needs of management, the fiscal section and both public and private end users. This position adheres to all Federal and State legislature and the departmental and administrative requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

- Knowledge of governmental accounting methods, procedures, and financial practices.
- Knowledge of the steps and procedures required to process data through an integrated computer system.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with information systems professionals and end-users to solve problems which impede or delay the functionality of SAP R/3 and/or CRM.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex Federal and State fiscal regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to use accounting judgment and theory to a wide variety of situations that are not covered by regulations or precedent.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree in accounting, or a degree in business administration, finance or public administration or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution with 18 semester hours of accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
