**THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN DISTRICT 7 - MACON COUNTY AND SUPPORTS SURROUNDING AREAS/DISTRICTS**
The Driver Education Program Specialist will train and certify school bus drivers in the classroom and behind the wheel.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
- teaching safe driving procedures for school bus driver defensive driving courses
- driver improvement clinics
- conducting vision and medical screenings for driver education classes
The Driver Education Program Specialist will maintain all work-related reports and files as well as complete the required weekly reports that are submitted to DMV’s central office.
Please note – the selected candidate will be subject to a criminal background and motor vehicle records check.
The program area for this position includes one or more of the following: experience training and teaching, auditing experience, bus driving experience, working knowledge of DMV or Federal computer programs, and/or experience inspecting vehicles for CDL law.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC 12/ $47,703.00-$83,479.00
Management prefers applicants with the following:
- Experience providing instruction in a classroom setting
- Experience developing and/or revising lesson plans
- Experience completing and maintaining reports/files
- Experience with Microsoft applications Previously or currently possess a Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a P (Passenger) and S (School Bus) endorsements for at least 2 years
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
