What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teaching Assistant position at State of New York?
Under the supervision of a certified teacher, provide direct instructional services to students utilizing lesson plans, tests and teaching aids developed by a certified teacher.
Reinforce subject matter previously taught by a teacher by guiding students through a prescribed and frequently repetitive learning exercise.
Administer, proctor and correct tests.
Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview
Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate; OR
Pre-Professional Teaching Assistant Certificate; OR
Continuing Certificate as a Teaching Assistant; OR
Provisional, Initial, Permanent, or Professional Teacher Certificate.
Requirements for Continued Employment:
Employees must maintain New York State certification as listed above in order to continue employment with New York State.
This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.

Qualifications:
Possession of a current certificate issued by the NYS Education Department in one of the following:Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate; OR
Pre-Professional Teaching Assistant Certificate; OR
Continuing Certificate as a Teaching Assistant; OR
Provisional, Initial, Permanent, or Professional Teacher Certificate.
