New York City Children's Center is recruiting a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric to supervise registered nurses and direct care. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
As Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric, you will supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned nursing and direct care staff including:
• Directing and reviewing the work of nursing staff
• Preparing and monitoring staffing schedules
• Developing daily staffing plans for nursing care
• Ensuring compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements
• License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State, and
• 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders.
Substitution:
• A master’s degree in nursing may substitute for 1 year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience
• A doctorate in nursing may substitute for 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience
OR
Candidates from within State Service may be considered for hire if they have 1 year of experience as Registered Nurse 2 (and all parenthetics) or Registered Nurse 3 (and all parenthetics).
OR
Candidates from within State Service may be considered for hire if they have 2 years of experience as any Grade 18 or higher position that requires a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
Due to the December 22, 2022 title structure change, permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in the following titles is also qualifying: Community Mental Health Nurse and all parenthetics, Community Nursing Services Consultant (Developmental Disabilities), Community Nursing Services Consultant (Home Health Services), Community Nursing Services Consultant (Mental Health), Health Services Nurse, Hospital Nursing Services Consultant, Infection Control Nurse, Medical Care Representative, Nurse 1 and all parenthetics, Nurse 2 and all parenthetics, Nurse 3 and all parenthetics, Teaching & Research Center Nurse 1, Teaching & Research Center Nurse 2, Teaching & Research Center Specialty Nurse, or Senior Utilization Review Nurse.

Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Qualifications:
Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric if they have:• License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State, and
• 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders.
